The socialists are under the control of the lobbies!
Thursday the 14th of April, european Parliamentarians, among them socialists, have shown their true face as servants of finance and lobbies. They voted for the legislative resolution #TradeSecrets. I do not have an impression, no, now I'm convicted: they don't give a shit of european citizens. Absolutely nothing. General interest? Social values? Nothing, that slab, get out there is nothing to see. The worst is coming from the ones that present themselves as socialists, those are the onces I'm reporting and I'm underlining their lies ! To have your votes, they say that they are listening to you... Then, they forget you until the next elections.
If you are following Belgian politics, you noticed the smoke screen sent by Arena and Tabarella about the TTIP. All at once, they are against it, but they forget that the Di Rupo government mandated the Commission to negociate it. Anyway, let's move on!
When they say that they are against TTIP, it's in the name of agriculture, consumers right and they want more tranparency. You have examples here. This is exactly the subject of the vote that was held: transparency and the right to know the incidence studies on the consumers. Do you think that the Belgian socialists voted against the text? Of course not: Arena, Bayet and Tarabella abstained and Van Brempt voted in favour.
Please do not imagine that our eurodeputees would defend their own opinions when lobbyists, just like us, can follow their votes. And to be sure that their financial supports are protected, they locked the emergency exit concerning whistleblowers.
Even if we are in the middle of the #PanamaPapers scandal, they show us how important it is to protect the whistleblowers, our elected politicians are fighting them. When Assange, Snowden, Manning or Deltour showed the importance of their actions and their faith in higher interests than finance, ALDE, ECR, PPE and S&D groups decided to reinforce the trade secrets.
Like Lamberts, the green deputee, in his FB post of the 14th of April, I do not question competitivity, but that under the "trade secrets" the companies can be above the laws. For example, the VW scandal, does it recall you something? So, now, the entreprises are even more working in opacity.
Let's come back on whistleblowers. With VW, a whistleblower could have said something because it was illegal. From now on, nothing can be exposed if not illegal. That means that the journalists working on #PanamaPapers should first ascertain the illegality of the financial mountings before report them.
If I'm unhappy today, it's because once again, EU receive its laws from the lobbies. Especially as we are in a concrete defiance against institutions. Everyday Verhofstadt speeks in the european medias about the danger of the dropout with public opinion. Once again, this can be forgotten. Of course, Verhofstad voted for this law, but he did not betrayed his electors.
After the attacks in Brussels that showed us the lack of means of the officials coming from the idea of "always less State", the #PanamaPapaers are pointing the lack of human ressources to fight against money laundering, the defiance vote against EU in the Netherlands or the forecoming #Brexit, it would be wise from the Parliament to be coherent in its fight against euroscepticism.
As ALDE, ECR or PPE are behind this kind of text, I easily understand it. Even if I have a doubt concerning CDH and CD&V who claim to be center left. Let's underline that Rolin voted against, Arimont refrained et Vandenkendelaere voted for. But the fact the the socialists are under the control of the lobbies let me puzzled. It looks like they want to widen a gap with their electoral basis as they have a liberal point of view in economics. Despite #Podemos, #NuitDebout, #ToutAutreChose... They clearly decide to not give a more social image to EU.
Before focusing on the result of the votes, let's have a look a the composition of the european Parliament:
Now, lets watch the results: 503 for, 131 against and 18 abstentions. Only two groups called to vote against: united left and the greens/ALE. Inside S&D, 163 eurodeputees voted for the legislative resolution, 3 against and 12 abstentions. For the Belgians, only Lamberts, Staes and Rolin voted against.
The most cynical, is that even if S&D would have called to vote against, the law would have passed on a ration more or less 340 against 310. Even if the convictions of the modern left are on the right, they could have pretended to be on the left. In fact they do not even want to hide the fact that they are on the right. They just do not care of the opinion of their electors.
Let there be no mistake, I don't put the Socialist ideology on a trial. I report the fraudulent behaviour of the socialist eurodeputees that are rejecting the ideas for which they were elected. Once on their seat, they let themselves guide by the finance, lobbies and markets. Their schizophrenic behaviour will appear again when they will have to fight for their seat and then try to seduce their electors again.
Poor electors, poor Europe.
